  • Hello I need help for this question!

Jess needs 200 pieces of ribbon, each of length 110 cm, to decorate a room for a party. Ribbon is sold in rolls of 25m each. What is the least number of rolls of ribbon that Jess needs to buy?
  • Let me work on the question
  • What is the answer you got?
  • 9?
  • Hmmm, that's incorrect.
  • Let me go through the question with you.
  • 25m = 2500 cm.
Since each ribbon is 110 cm, we can deduce the number of ribbon each roll will have
  • 2500 / 110 = 22.72
So it tells us that each roll of ribbons can be cut into 22 pieces of 110 cm ribbons

  • Do you understand so far?
  • Yes I get it
  • Ok, so from there since Jess needs 200 pieces of ribbons,

    200 / 22 = 9.09.

This tell us that 9 rolls of ribbons is not enough. So we will need 10 rolls of ribbons.

That is the answer for this question.

  • I see. I get it now
  • Thank you!
  • That's good! Any other questions?
  • Nope
  • I will proceed to end the session. Goodbye~!
  • Bye
