AEIS 2026: Complete Guide for International Students Entering Singapore Schools

For parents seeking admission for their children into Singapore’s local schools, understanding the AEIS process and preparing effectively is key. At Superstar Teacher, we aim to guide you through the AEIS 2026 process and share actionable steps to help your child succeed.

Learn everything parents need to know about AEIS 2026, including AEIS application steps, CEQ tests, exam dates, preparation tips, and passing rates.

As of 27 January 2026, the applications for the 2026 S-AEIS have officially closed. The S-AEIS exams will be conducted from Monday, 2 March 2026 to Friday, 6 March 2026. For families planning ahead, applications for AEIS 2027 will open in July 2026, with tests scheduled in September or October 2026. Exact dates will be available by July 2026.

How to Apply for AEIS 2026

Applying for AEIS may seem daunting, but following the official steps ensures your child’s application is complete and processed smoothly:

  1. Create an Individual Account in the Candidates Portal (CP)
Begin by creating your child’s individual account during the application period.
  2. Submit the AEIS Application
Once the CP account is successfully created, you can apply for the AEIS 2026 exams during the registration period.
  3. Upload Required Documents
Ensure all documents are uploaded accurately in the CP:
    – Birth certificate (with English translation if necessary)
    – Passport bio-data page (valid for at least 6 months)
    – Passport-sized photo in JPEG or PNG format (recommended: 410 x 514 px)
    – For primary school applicants: statement of results for the relevant Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test taken from July 2024 onwards (certificate not required)
    – Any additional documents requested, such as a marriage certificate

Completing these steps correctly is crucial to avoid delays in processing your child’s AEIS 2026 application.

How to Apply for and Take the CEQ Test

For primary school applicants, taking the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) test is a mandatory step before AEIS:

  1. Timing of the CEQ Test
The test must be taken 12 months before your AEIS application. For AEIS 2026, this means your child should have taken the CEQ test from July 2025. When booking the test, confirm that results will be available in time for the AEIS application.
  2. Choosing the Test Format
The CEQ test can be paper-based or computer-based, depending on your child’s age. It must be taken at a Cambridge Assessment English (CAE)-authorised exam centre anywhere in the world. You can locate centres here: Find a Cambridge Exam Centre.

The CEQ test ensures that your child has the English proficiency required to thrive in Singapore’s education system.

After Registration in the Candidates Portal

All AEIS registrations are subject to approval. After submitting the application, the status will appear as “Pending” in CP. Processing typically takes at least four weeks, provided all documents are complete and the applicant is eligible.

Incomplete submissions may result in longer processing times. We recommend logging in regularly to CP and checking the Remarks column for updates.

  • If approved, you will receive an email to retrieve the entry proof from CP.
  • If rejected, the status will display as “ineligible”.

Keeping track of the application status helps parents plan and avoid last-minute complications.

How to Prepare Your Child for AEIS 2026

Preparation is crucial for success in AEIS. We recommend focusing on four key areas:

  1. Build a Strong English Foundation
English is the primary language of instruction in Singapore. For students from non-English speaking backgrounds, a strong foundation in grammar, comprehension and vocabulary is essential.
  2. Master Mathematics Concepts
Singapore’s teaching strategies are unique, using models, patterns, and problem-solving techniques. Familiarity with these methods, such as “total did not change” or “common friends,” will boost your child’s confidence in tackling questions.
  3. Familiarise with the Exam Format
Practice using AEIS-style or MOE-aligned papers to build familiarity. Time management is critical. Tools like Superstar Teacher’s Revise component allow students to solve questions within a timed environment, simulating real exam conditions.
  4. Consistent Revision and Practice
Regular practice, reviewing mistakes and focusing on weak areas improves performance and reduces exam anxiety. Structured revision plans and mock tests can make a significant difference.

AEIS Passing Rate and Key Takeaways

Securing a place in a Singapore local school through AEIS is highly competitive. On average, only 20% of applicants are successful each year. While challenging, proactive preparation, early planning, and targeted practice can significantly improve your child’s chances.

At Superstar Teacher, we support parents and students through structured lessons, timed practice papers and targeted strategies to help your child excel in AEIS 2026 and beyond.

Key reminders for parents:

  1. Track AEIS application and CEQ test dates
  2. Ensure all documents are complete and submitted on time
  3. Strengthen your child’s English and Math foundations
  4. Practice with timed, exam-style questions

With the right preparation, your child can approach AEIS with confidence, ready to achieve their goal of entering a Singapore school.
